RULES

19th ICE SCULPTURE FESTIVAL in POZNAN

12th -14th of December 2025

Place: Poznan - Old Market Square

I.         The organiser of the International Ice Sculpture Festival is the City of Poznan.

II.         Only participants who are entered in advance and admitted to participation can take part in the competition.

According to European Union rules, artists from Russia and Belarus, as well as Russian or Belarusian nationals representing another country, are not allowed to participate in the POZnań Ice Festival.

III.         19th International Ice Sculpture Festival will be held 12th - 14th of December.

IV.         The time of the one block competition at 12th of December is 04:00 pm - 06:30 pm.

1)     Participants work in the competition as one-man teams.

2)     Theme of the works in the competition: "...".

3)     On the day of the Competition the Organiser will provide:

a)     workplaces in the form of 3 m x 4 m platforms,

b)     1 block of 1.0 m x 0.5 m x 0.25 m

c)     electricity on a stand in accordance with demand declared in advance - 110 V or 220 V,

d)     auxiliary materials - buckets with water,

V.         The time of the competition "speed carving" at 13th of December is 12:10 pm - 06:00/07:00 pm.

1)     At 13th of December participants work in the competition as one-man teams.

2)     Competitors will be performed the sculpture on the main stage

3)     Projects of sculptures will be prepared by the organizer of the competition

4)     Each participant can see projects on the competition before the competition starts

5)     To make a sculpture the competitors receive a block of ice measuring 1m x 0.5m x 0.25m, electric saw and a saw with a guide carving

a)     the block cannot be cut - to increase the size of the sculpture

b)     you cannot attach any elements to the sculpture

6)     It is allowed to use a one power tool and chisels

7)     Competitors will spin reels project before entering the stage

8)     Competitors finish their work after the regular time in the round - 25 minutes

9)     In the final round competitors on the execution of the sculptures will have - 35 minutes

10)  Only one winner will be selected from each of three -and two - person group

11)  After the conclusion of all the rounds will be selected the winner of 19th of Ice Sculpture Festival in Speed ​​Carving Competition in Poznan

12)  The winner of each round and the winner will be selected by jury

VI.         The time of the competition at 14th of December is 9:00 am - 5:00 pm on a day announced by the Organiser.

1)     Participants work in the competition as two-man teams.

2)     At 10th of December the subject of competition entries is free.

3)     On the day of the Competition the Organiser will provide:

a)     workplaces in the form of 3 m x 4 m platforms,

b)     blocks of ice for every team, including:

                                                    i.         3 blocks of 1.0 m x 1.0 m x 0.25 m

                                                   ii.         1 block of 1.0 m x 0.5 m x 0.25 m

c)     tools - motor-driven chainsaws per team,

d)     electricity on a stand in accordance with demand declared in advance - 110 V or 220 V,

e)     auxiliary materials - buckets with water, ladders, brooms,

f)      illumination of the sculptures after they are finished.

4)     Additional reservations

a)     Sculpture height -maximum of 3 m

b)     Use of numerical machines, milling machines, lathes, mechanical cutters for making of plates is prohibited

c)     Use of previously prepared materials is prohibited

d)     Advertising of companies which are not sponsors of the festival is prohibited (it is prohibited to set up advertising banners, distribute advertising materials, leaflets, etc)

e)     All elements of a sculpture have to be made of ice, no other decorations, such as ribbons, materials, etc. can be used

f)      It is not allowed to put inscriptions on sculptures.

VII.         The Organiser undertakes to:

1)     provide the participants with accommodation during their stay in Poznan (two artists reside in each hotel room - members of one team),

2)     food and warm beverages during competition work,

3)     cover all costs of transport of the participants connected with their arrival to and departure from Poznan (airplane, bus, train)

VIII.         The participants undertake to:

1)     take part in the competition on the day announced by the Organiser

2)     have your own protective clothing and use it

3)     provide their own health insurance policy (each participant is responsible for their own safety and safety of their sculpture).

4)     transfer all material rights and copyrights on ready works to the Organiser of the competition

IX.         The sculptures will be evaluated by a competition jury

TOTAL                                                            100 points

XI.         The winners of one block competition will receive awards.

1st place - 900 Euro

2nd place - 700 Euro

3rd place - 500 Euro

XII.         The winners of the main competition will receive awards.

1st place - 3000 Euro

2nd place - 2000 Euro

3rd place - 1000 Euro
